The Falcons have been known for having fickle fans who abandon the team when it struggles, but this season, the sidelines have been overflowing with rappers, actors and athletes from other sports . says he’s no bandwagon jumper. The lifelong Falcons fan says he remembers when Deion Sanders high stepped into end zones, Michael Vick dashed by defenders and the “Dirty Birds” danced to the Super Bowl in 1999.

Those were some of the most memorable moments in Falcons history, but there were many more forgettable years. remained faithful. said. “We’ve had our highs and lows. But this team is different. We are rooting for them.”

Usher, Future, Jeezy and Bow Wow have been spotted cheering from the sidelines during Falcons home games this season . Rapper Gucci Mane was shown giving fans high fives from at a playoff game in the Georgia Dome.

Ludacris performed at halftime in the Falcons’ NFC divisional round win against the Seattle Seahawks then returned the following week to deliver another show in the team’s final home game at the Georgia Dome in a victory against the Green Bay Packers. The rapper recently narrated a short video clipped called “A City Waits” in honor of the Falcons .

Some might think celebrities are jumping on Falcons’ bandwagon. But star receiver Julio Jones says that’s not case.

“The Atlanta celebrities, all the artists in Atlanta,

they’ve definitely been behind us throughout the years, even when we weren’t to this point,” Jones said. “I have a relationship with a lot of those guys. They’ve always supported us. It hasn’t changed. But they’re out here now. They’re talking about it in their music, in interviews, everything.”

One of the most notable Falcons supporters is actor Samuel L. Jackson, who created a commercial in 2014 for the team. He recently appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” about his Super Bowl bound squad and discussed how he tried to forewarn his team about an Aaron Rodgers trick play in warmups before the NFC Championship game.

“I tweeted it out to make sure, you know, somebody from the Falcons discovered the play,” Jackson said. The actor is originally from Tennessee, but became a Falcons fan years ago. Jackson worked concessions at games when he attended Morehouse College.

“Samuel L is probably my only competition as a Falcons fan,” said The Dream, a Grammy winning singer producer whose basement is filled with Falcons paraphernalia from flags, jerseys and a helmet from Sanders.

“I think all of us compete for who is the biggest Atlanta fan,” he continued. “The most non celebrated fan of the Falcons would be me. We walk around these streets and across the world telling them about Atlanta. All of us have this sense of pride, because we grew up here.”

The Dream gave props to quarterback Matt Ryan and Jones for leading the Falcons to the franchise’s second Super Bowl appearance, but credits owner Arthur Blank for changing the Falcons culture when the billionaire purchased the team in 2002. The Falcons lost to the Denver Broncos 34 19 in Super Bowl 33.

“I think our success before was kind of luck,” he said. “There was no plan, a plan for change. But Arthur was that change. He brought a culture of winning. firmly believes the underdog Falcons can claim the Vince Lombardi Trophy with a win over the Patriots.

“We open every season thinking it’s our year,” he said. “Matt Ryan is having an MVP caliber season, Julio is at the top of his game and the defense has been playing well. We’ve been clicking on all cylinders. This is our year.”

But if the Falcons pull off the upset, The Dream may celebrate in unique fashion.

“I’m going streaking,” he said with a chuckle. “I’m going straight downtown. I’m going to send a tweet out telling them what we’re about to do. Hopefully,

i have it and it is awesome. Currently, it is set up to receive over the air HDTV. I live in Columbus, OH and get a Dayton and Cleveland signals, though been debating to permanently keep analog cable tv to it instead. I highly recommend downloading the drivers and software from ATI. In the end, I was frustrated and rebuilt my hard drive.

Not sure the exact drivers that I am using. when I get home I can look it up.

When you are watching a HDTV program. is your hdd actively doing TOD (TV on Demand) recording??? At some point after MMC 9.08 ATI had forced TOD to be on at all times while watching a program with no way to disable it. This is crazy because if you just want to do normal watch and not record. you have no option to turn off TOD. So your hdd is doing unnecssary activities and using up cpu cycles

Yes TOD is always on, it works like TIVO but I am not sure if it temporarily stores it on the hard drive if you chose not to save it. The ATI software always boots up (Remote Wonder, ATI taskbar, and a 3rd process running in back ground, possible TOD); I close em out if I do not plan to record or watch TV. I did try a combo of cable and HDTV together. It seems to work but you have to go into the selected channels to add or remove any of the channels the turner card found but had issues with the drivers I got from Windows Update.

A petition passed hand to hand around the University of Arizona football team found its way into the hands of Jake Fischer.

The senior linebacker whose father Brett grew up in Grand Island mulled the possibilities as the former player who brought the petition to the team told him about the changes it could bring.

By suing the NCAA, Fischer could try to ensure that he, his teammates and thousands of college athletes like himself would get the money and help he thought they deserved.

The senior linebacker wouldn’t have to worry about his ACL which was mangled during the spring before his junior season. He could rest assured that even if his NFL career never materialized, his years of football wouldn’t leave him in financial peril.

He talked with his parents who have lived in Arizona since before Jake was born and he called family in Grand Island. He asked for the blessing of his teammates, coach Rich Rodriguez and his athletic director Greg Byrne.

On July 18, Fischer and teammate Jake Smith signed on to become two of the first six active players nationwide attached to the Ed O’Bannon lawsuit against the NCAA.

“We felt like we could do no wrong to be honest,” Fischer said. “Everybody had our back.”

Fischer is considered to be the leader and most outspoken player in the group of six, which includes Clemson cornerback Darius Robinson, Vanderbilt linebacker Chase Garnham and Minnesota tight end Moses Alipate and receiver Victor Keise.

The class action lawsuit is headed by former UCLA basketball star O’Bannon and includes notable participants like former Alabama receiver Tyrone Prothro and basketball legends Bill Russell and Oscar Robertson, among a long list of others.

The lawsuit contends that the NCAA violated the Sherman Anti Trust Act by means of price fixing. It argues that the value of an athlete’s own likeness is essentially fixed at zero dollars.

When signing with an NCAA school, athletes are required to give the NCAA rights to profit from a player’s likeness, even though players are forbidden from profiting from their own likeness without losing eligibility.

If athletes were allowed to sell their likeness on the open market for TV commercials, jersey sales or video games they would be able to fetch some sort of price, the suit argues.

The suit also lists the Collegiate Licensing Company and Electronic Arts (which produces the NCAA Football video game) as defendants. If successful, the suit could have a monumental impact on college athletics, with the potential of billions of dollars changing hands.

Fischer said he isn’t in the lawsuit for greed. It’s about the well being of athletes like himself.

“My concern is just to hopefully help student athletes after they’re done with their eligibility,” Fischer said.

While former NFL players are building lawsuits against the NFL for concussions and long term injuries, Fischer sees a similar case that should be made against the NCAA, and this may be the best way to get those problems covered.

Concussion issues run rampant across football,
nhl wholesale jerseys authentic Athlete with local ties joins lawsuit against NCAA
as do ACL knee injuries like the one Fischer suffered in 2012.

“Throughout the football season, they suffer injuries that are going to last a lifetime,” Fischer said. “When I have a knee surgery down the road, I would like to have a little reassurance.

“I have a friend who has had so many concussions he can’t focus more than five minutes without getting a migraine.”

Health insurance programs vary by school, but many ask the athlete’s family if insured to act as the primary account, with the school covering any leftover costs. After an athlete’s eligibility expires, most schools allow a one year grace period to report injuries before ending benefits.

Athletes who take a redshirt year invest five years into a collegiate sports career, which is five years of grueling physical wear, jam packed schedules and mostly empty resumes.

In December, Fischer will graduate with a marketing degree but without any internships or job experience.

“If you’re trying to be the best football player you can be, you don’t have time for that,” Fischer said.

Unlike most college players, Fischer has a shot at the NFL. The 6 foot, 222 pound linebacker who didn’t receive a scholarship offer from Nebraska because of his size led his team in tackles last year, earning All Pac 12 honorable mention.

But if that doesn’t pan out, he’s back to square one. He said he’ll likely go back to school to finish up a second degree. From there, who knows?

He knew what he signed up for when he committed to play football. It’s no secret that college athletes are void of free time and are more often treated as athlete first and student second.

Fischer wants his fair shake. A piece of the pie equivalent to the time and energy he spent in football related activities would exceed the value of his scholarship.

It’s unclear how much money each athlete would be awarded if the suit is successful. But Fischer said he isn’t targeting dollar figures, just change.

Some people would say the lawsuit is greedy or that athletes are spoiled enough as is, but Fischer said there are a lot of misconceptions by the public.

cheap throwback nba jerseys Atheist group targets presidential candidates

By Dan Merica, CNN

Washington (CNN) A prominent atheist group is using next month Democratic National Convention to take aim at the presidential candidates religion, putting up billboards targeting Mormonism and Christianity in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Our political system is rife with religion and it depends too much on religion and not enough on substance, said David Silverman, president of American Atheists, sponsor of the ads.

is silly and religion has components that are inherently divisive. There is no place for any of that in the political system,” he said.

The billboards go up Monday in Charlotte and will stay up for a month at a cost of roughly $15,000. The Democratic convention runs September 3 6.

CNN’s Belief Blog: The faith angles behind the biggest stories

The billboard targeting Christianity features an image of Jesus Christ on toast and this description of the faith: God; Useless Savior, 30,000+ Versions of ‘Truth,’ Promotes Hates, Calls it ‘Love.’ ”

The billboard targeting Mormonism lambastes and, Mormons would say, distorts specific Mormon doctrines: is a Space Alien, Baptizes Dead People, Big Money, Big Bigotry.”

The Mormon billboard features a man in white underwear, a reference to special Mormon garments.

Follow the CNN Belief Blog on Twitter

Both billboards feature the line Simply Reasonable. Atheists had wanted to put the anti Mormon billboard in Tampa, Florida, to coincide with the Republican National Convention there later this month. Presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney is a Mormon. When no billboard company in the city would lease the group space for such a sign, Silverman said the organization decided to focus solely on the Democrats in Charlotte.

“Presidential conventions are for ideas, not ideology platforms, not platitudes, Silverman said. a person believes stupid things, we have every right to question his or her judgment, and that directly impacts how the nonreligious voter votes.”

CNN Belief Blog: Atheist leader hopes to mobilize closeted nonbelievers

Some religious leaders said the billboards showed a misunderstanding of how faith works.

billboard makes the most common high school error when it comes to atheism, wrote the Rev. not arguing against the existence of God, but against religion. The American Atheists need to go back to school on this one. also questioned the language used on the billboard: as for hate they doing a bang up job themselves with that billboard. Givens, a Mormon professor at the University of Richmond, called American Atheists and vindictive. this example of adolescent silliness is what atheists mean by being reasonable, then neither Mormons nor other Christians have much to worry about, he said of the billboards. atheists organize to serve the poor and needy of the world, they will be taken more seriously. Earlier this year, the group put up two billboards in heavily Muslim and Jewish enclaves in New Jersey and New York bearing messages in Arabic and Hebrew.

“You know it’s a myth and you have a choice,” the billboards said. At the time, Silverman said the signs were intended to reach atheists in Muslim and Jewish areas who may feel isolated because they are surrounded by believers.

In addition to the billboards, Silverman said his group plans to stage protests at both conventions.

It amusing in a twisted sort of way that in spite of all the evidence of God, there remain many who pretend He does not exist. Atheists remind me of the petulant child screaming at his mommy to buy him a candy bar, and if she doesn buy it he scream some more. The same is true with atheists. They want all spiritual and religious signage and the like removed from public view. Nobody is denying the rights of atheists to foolishly think that God does not exist by erecting a cross or a Star of David. I doubt the atheists are ever as noble in their efforts to remove signs of religion. Atheists are a small minded simple thinking sect with the tendency of whiny children. And we should not give in to their juvenile behavior.

September 11, 2012 at 4:58 am

We don fear God. We fear the mind rot that has inflicted believers for thousands of years. In the name of God, Christians from Europe carried on Crusades for two hundred against Moslems in the holy lands. Once they saw that the Moslems could fight back they turned their wrath on the heretics who professed their objection to Catholicism. Burning at the stake seemed to be their favorite form of entertainment. After their escape from Egypt the Jews killed everyone in their path on the way to the Promised Land. The Catholics and Protestants killed each other with relish in Ireland (I defy you to distinguish a Catholic from a Protestant in Ireland) Just yesterday in Iraq Sunnis killed 92 Shiites in Iraq ( or was thatShiites who killed 92 Sunnis (whats the difference). This alone is a testimony, the Lord orchestrated it all! Having this sign displaying scripture in the city of Manchester everyday has given us the opportunity to show others what we intend to do all across the country! If you haven seen any of the signs, you can look us up on face book at signs for Jesus, go to our profile and you can view some of the currenta0 pictures. God Word, being displayed publicly, every day, for every passer by to read. This is going to be powerful! I know He will use these signs to make a difference in our communities, and in our lives. Think on this, in a day an age when we send our kids off to school and they are taught the “big bang” theory or when our own government promotes the theory of evolution, how powerful is this short scripture? It can no longer be hidden, we must shine this light He has given us, we are taking the bible of the bookshelf! His Truth must go forth into the streets. And that exactly what these signs will do, using God Word, we can expose all of the “theories” for what they truly are, lies from the enemy. No one has to yell, argue or proselytize, it simple, it God word going forth not ours, and It His Word and His Spirit that will do the convincing. The signs will go up, God will provide, I know this will all my heart. Meanwhile, the very best part is, God is giving you and I the opportunity to be a part of His work! This is the beauty of being His children. He doesn need our donations, all the riches of the world are His! Yet, He allows the opportunities for us to be a part of advancing His Kingdom and His blessings. People being forced to be micro chipped?

nike nhl jerseys Atchison Redmen to wear Chiefs’ old gear

The Redmen, Kansas City Atchison League members in Kansas’ Class 4A, will don the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2011 game pants and practice jerseys starting this fall. Nike Inc. became the NFL’s official outfitter in April, and the Chiefs decided to donate some of their garb to the school in western Atchison.

“They said they had to get rid of all their stuff that had Reebok on it,” Redmen coach Jim Smith said. “I was able to say, ‘I’ll take what you’ve got. With our color schemes being the same, it worked out for us.”

A friend of Smith’s that works for Nike put him in contact with Chiefs equipment manager Allen Wright, who’d been trying to figure out what to do with some of the old game and practice wear.

A free will donation to a local high school seemed about perfect.

And with Kansas experiencing statewide education budget cuts in the past year, the timing was, too.

“When we go buy a pair of game pants, we’re paying about 70 dollars for a pair,” Smith said. “This is some quality equipment we were able to get, and we didn’t have to pay for it.”

Some practice jerseys and pants also were donated to fellow Atchison schools Maur Hill Mount Academy and Benedictine College.

Traditionally wearing red helmets and yellow pants, the Redmen now will have several different possible uniform combinations with three different pants colors available. Smith said his team’s already chirping about which look they’ll go with during specific weeks of the season.

“We’ve kind of made a funny out of it,” said Smith, whose squad went 3 6 this past fall and returns seven starters on each side of the ball. “We’re going to be Oregon Ducks of high school football the next couple years; we’ll be able to pick whatever color we want to wear that night.”

Kansas 4A football proposal shot down

The Kansas State High School Activities Association’s proposal to reduce the number of football teams competing in Class 4A failed to gain the necessary majority to pass earlier this week.

The proposal, which would’ve decreased 4A’s membership from 64 to 48 schools, needed 146 votes from 290 impacted schools to move forward.

The smallest 16 schools from Class 4A would’ve been bumped down to 3A, with the 16 smallest 3A schools then joining 2 1A, including Maur Hill Mount Academy.

The idea to alter Kansas’ middle classification stemmed from the fact that 4A contains the largest enrollment discrepancy 367 students between its smallest and biggest schools.

Hiawatha defensive end prospect Peyton Newell could pick up his 11th major college scholarship offer during his visit this weekend to Stanford. Nearly half of the Big 12 covets him, as do three Big Ten schools and UCLA and Missouri.

On June 11,

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy became the most recent to reach out to Newell. The 6 foot 3, 270 pounder with a 4.86 40 yard dash time showed off his skills at Nebraska’s Big Red Weekend this past weekend, giving coach Bo Pelini and his staff an in person visual of the kid they offered on May 25.

Missouri’s in the fold, too, along with Baylor, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, TCU and UCLA.

The most fascinating fact of Newell’s recruiting hype remains that he’ll be only a junior this fall.

Newell’s Stanford camp trip will be his second to last recruiting venture this summer, his father Frank Newell said. Peyton will attend the free, invite only Rivals Underclassmen Challenge on Sunday, July 8 in DeSoto, Texas, then return to Hiawatha and begin focusing on his junior season with the Red Hawks.

When coach Brandon Wilkes decided earlier this month to take a job at Lyons High School in Colorado, MH MA president Phil Baniewicz turned the reins over to assistant Jermaine Monroe.

“I think it’s a real easy transition,” Baniewicz told the Atchison Globe. “The first thing that stands out about Jermaine is his consistency and loyalty to MH MA.”

So Baniewicz was loyal to Monroe.

The two both have Benedictine College ties;Monroe played for the Ravens, Baniewicz led the college’s marketing efforts before taking his post at MH MA.

Monroetakes over a program that’s struggled so much in the past decade that 2 7 and 4 5 during Wilkes’ two seasons at the helm represent significant improvement.

On the MH MA staff the past three seasons,Monroe hopes to continue that.

“It’s an amazing opportunity,” he said. “I’ve been loyal to the school and I learned a lot from Brandon and my coaches at Benedictine. It’s definitely going to be an easy transition.”

In other coaching news in northeast Kansas, Andrew Eckert was hired to replace Gordon Gundersen after his 19 years as Hiawatha’s head basketball coach.

AT Unite Pro 4G LTE Hotspot

Mobile hotspots are nothing new to the market, but manufacturers like coming up with new ways to make them more user friendly, modernized in both appearance and functionality, and have a greater battery life. AT recently released the Unite Pro 4G LTE hotspot, manufactured by Netgear, which packs a 2.4 inch QVGA 64k color capacitive touch screen, a giant 4020mAh battery, LTE Advanced support, and even dual band WiFi. One really great thing about this hotspot is the fact that you can have up to 15 users connected to it at once, so there is virtually no worrying about who can use it at any given time. That makes this hotspot a great solution for everything from a road trip with your friends or family to a business conference with many of your peers.

AT sent us this review unit before the the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 in Las Vegas. We know that finding an internet connection is difficult, so this came in handy when we were in a pinch. Should you want one of these for your own personal use, on a 2 year contract or $249.99 without a contract.

The color of the Unite Pro is strictly matte black with a silver trim. The black color is a rubberized finish, making it a bit slip resistant and smudge free. It isn’t perfectly slip resistant, as I can set it on the smooth cover on my laptop (lid slightly open about 10 degrees) and it will slowly creep down depending where I place it, but it holds much better than any glossy finish would.

On the face of the Unite Pro is where you’ll find the 2.4 inch screen, a home and back button, and an LED that indicates whether or not the unit is functioning properly. You also can’t help but notice the nice round corners and the curves on the side. I really like these and handling the device feels nice.

At the top edge is where the power button is located. It sits nearly flush with the side, making it difficult enough to not mistakenly press and plenty large enough that you can actually press it with your finger.

On the bottom edge is where the MicroUSB port is located. Here you can either charge the Unite Pro itself or use the included Micro USB to USB cable to charge your smartphone from the Unite Pro. Included with the Unite Pro is a wall charger with a detachable MicroUSB cable, making charging your Android or Windows smartphone simple; iPhone users will obviously have to provide their own cable.

There is nothing else to it. It’s very simple but still aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Flipping to the very bottom of the Unite Pro is where you’ll see Netgear stamped into the cover.

Pop this cover off and you expose the nice and big 4020mAh battery.

So what does that massive 4020mAh battery get you? Well, for starters, you can get up to 16 hours of use or 16 days of standby time, which is incredible. Do you find your smartphone a little low on juice? The Unite Pro can also charge your device with what they call “BatteryBoost.” The big battery does make the device a little on the heavier side, with the device weighing 5.8 ounces (165 grams), but it is by no means going to weigh you down. It isn’t overly bulky either, measuring in at 112 x 68 x 19mm (LxWxH). Putting my Galaxy S3 next to it, the Unite Pro comes to be roughly twice as thick.

The battery that the Unite Pro uses is branded Netgear, model W 6, with a part number of 5200080. This battery is 3.7v and has a capacity of 4020mAh or 14.88Wh.

Underneath the battery is where the micro SIM is located and is easily removed, should you need to.

Starting up the Unite Pro, we catch our first glimpse of the small 2.4 inch screen and its quality. It is only a 320 (QVGA) screen, so you won’t find HD graphics here. Fortunately you won’t be using this device’s screen very often, so it shouldn’t be a big deal. Starting up the device from being fully powered off took 30 seconds, so there is a bit of a delay before you can get surfing.

Looking at the main screen, we can find everything from alerts, quick reference of the WiFi network name and password, data usage,
cheap usa soccer jersey AT Unite Pro 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot Review
and three shortcuts to WiFi settings, BatteryBoost, and device Settings. It’s nothing too fancy here, so the icons that you see are very generic and bland.

You can choose to hide the WiFi name and password on the home screen when you dig into the menus, making it a little bit harder for someone to just walk up and steal your connection.

Working with the capacitive screen, I noticed that it is extremely responsive and there is virtually no lag between touches.

Jumping into the Wireless settings first, you can’t help but notice that you have a Main WiFi settings button and a Guest WiFi. I find this to be a neat feature if you wanted to briefly share your connection with someone while not compromising your main settings. You can even limit it to be a single guest user connected if you wish. Unfortunately each time you turn on or off the Guest WiFi, it disconnects everyone else for a moment.

Other options in here include enabling or disabling dual band WiFi (5 GHz band or the 2.4 GHz band), connected device management, WPS connectivity options, and SMS messages. There isn really much under each of these menus, so I will not go into detail with them.

Back at the main screen, hitting the BatteryBoost icon will prompt you to plug in your device with the included micro USB to USB cable and whatever other flavor cable you use for your device. The cool part here is that you can tell the Unite Pro how long you want to “Boost” your smartphone for in 30, 60, or 90 minute sessions. It will even have a timer that counts down in 15 second intervals that tells you how much time is left.

Back at the home screen one last time, we have the Settings icon. Inside here, you can turn the device on Airplane Mode, modify Mobile Broadband Settings, WiFi options, display settings, USB tethering, and get a bit of information about your device.

You might be asking yourself, why on Earth would I use this gadget in Airplane Mode, when its sole purpose is to be a WiFi hotspot? The answer to that question is: BatteryBoost. If you want to charge a smartphone while on a plane, this would be why!

Inside the WiFi settings, you can modify the standby time, boost the range of the signal output, and also change the password.

Under Display is where you can adjust the screen brightness, the display timeout, and finally tell the device if you want the WiFi information to appear on the home screen. Should you opt to not show the info on the home screen, everything will be asterisks instead.

USB tethering lets you hook up the Unite Pro directly to a computer for internet access and charge it at the same time, or just strictly charge the device. It should be plug and play for Vista and newer, but for those of you still stuck on Windows XP, you will need to install a driver that is loaded on the device. If you’re still stuck on Windows XP for some reason, it might also be a good idea to upgrade soon, as support from Microsoft is ending on April 8th.

That’s about all there is to this device in this respect. On the next page,

I will pull up the web interface that you can connect to and also briefly check out the app that you can download on Android or iPhone.

Whether it scrawled on the dirt caked tile wall of a New York City subway station, splashed across the side of a brick building in Los Angeles or sitting in a gallery in Gainesville, urban art demands viewers attention, no matter its form.

And starting Friday, Gainesville burgeoning urban art scene will get a hand from 26 artists whose works have appeared on surfaces around the world. But just because they took their street art into the studio doesn mean it will lose any of its verve.

The Thomas Center Galleries will shed new light on street art with the exhibit Urban Art from Vandalism to Movement, featuring works spanning the genre nearly 50 year history from street corner to gallery wall.

Urban art heavyweights Brian Adam Douglas, also known as Swoon, Logan Hicks and others created studio pieces that demonstrate the movement many mediums, ranging from screen prints, giant paintings, multimedia works, collages and sculpture.

Despite the genre big city roots, Gainesville is the perfect candidate for an urban art exhibition, argues co curator Anne Gilroy.

a small city, but we have a population that informed about art, she said.

The exhibit provides context for the 27 murals scattered throughout downtown Gainesville as part of the 352walls/Gainesville Urban Art Initiative, a project that repurposes walls into public art spaces.

hope people see that art is not some contained movement from which they detached, she said. art, like music, can be part of the whole community world. will offer a peek into the notorious artist work and the business of preserving temporary street art.

That temporary nature is part of urban art appeal one that begs to be captured on social media, Gilroy said.

really internet driven, she said. an artist puts a piece of work on a building, it not going to be there forever,

so this really does rely on photographic record of art having happened. movement is relatively young, originating on the streets as graffiti in the 1970s. It still a lightning rod for controversy because it so public, she said it puts art in front of people, regardless of whether they want to see it.

Artist Logan Hicks doesn think about the masses when he creates a piece; instead, he hopes there’s kind of commonality that runs through his work that onlookers can relate to.

just focus on what it is that I like, he said. artist is just trying to portray their world. though the art form is more common in bigger cities, Hicks said he expects Gainesville audiences to embrace the work just the same because of its accessibility.

like to think that it one of the more understandable genres of art, he said. an art for the people. Reeder only embraced the movement three or four years ago. A self proclaimed artist with extensive schooling, he was attracted by urban art nature, taking two things that shouldn go together and merging them into one piece to get a reaction.

Instagram, followers of Reeder work regularly tag him in photos of his murals they spot from the street. Unlike other art genres, urban art is accessible to people of all backgrounds, due in part to its open display, he said.

contemporary art is open to a much broader range of art viewer, he said. definitely a powerful movement, and I think it here to stay for a long time. agrees; urban artists will continue to delight, offend and intrigue, even if their works are replaced by new layers of paint and poster

Contact Us,Since Barton G. the Restaurant opened on South Beach in 2002, it has generated passionate opinions. There are some who insist it offers more bravura showmanship than gastronomic substance, and others who laud its perpetual proffering of innovative products, presentations, and technologies. I belong to the latter camp, because almost all of the 50 plus restaurants I annually reviewed during Barton’s first few years offered essentially interchangeable menus (within the respective genres). In terms of sheer creativity, Barton G. was to most other Miami dining establishments what the Beatles were to barbershop quartets. Prelude by Barton G., which in October debuted on the second floor of the Ziff Ballet Opera House (in the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts), would be more like the Fab Four unplugged.

The electrically designed, deco inspired supper club d is certainly charged. The sophisticated room features lily pad lights floating from the ceiling, flat screens displaying fluvially flowing jellyfish, a backlit onyx and glass wall, a long onyx bar, wooden booths, and fresh orchids on the tables all cast in a soft golden glow. It’s gorgeous.

Diners can share a warm, puffy pillow of crisp crusted ciabatta bread served with softened butter while perusing the serious and extensive wine list. Prelude offers some 90 labels in three portion sizes a sampling of 1.5 ounces, a four ounce pour, and a six ounce pour. This is just one of many customer friendly measures; another is mentioning an appropriate wine pairing below each menu item. Call for seating times and prepay options for performance nights.

Here is a suggested strategy: If dining as a couple, one of you should order an extra starter or entr in lieu of dessert, for most of the sweets are portioned to share (same rule applies to larger groups). It generally doesn’t make sense to order two main courses (Do you really need to eat duck and chicken?) unless one of them is the goat cheese ravioli which fits into the traditional idea of pasta as a first course. And do try the five sumptuous homemade pasta bundles, filled with ethereally soft cheese and tossed with asparagus tips in sweetly roasted red pepper infused cream even if it means having it for dessert.

Barton G. Weiss made his mark as a cutting edge catering impresario with a flair for gargantuan dramatics balanced with a microbe hunting attention to detail. The details remain: Glassware and cutlery here are of highest quality. Colorfully glazed, handcrafted, and hand blown plates of all shapes and sizes are used. There are, however, no duck decoys or shrimp enshrouded in dry ice smoke, no Brobdingnagian cotton candy confections or nitrogen cocktails or coffee beans culled from animal turds. There are no pop tarts in toasters or milk shakes in blenders; surprisingly, no kitchen appliances whatsoever were brought to the table. Prelude is practically prop less.

That said, Weiss’s whimsy is still evident in dishes such as tuna and roasted beet salad, whose latter component is presented on the plate as thin red and yellow checkerboard squares separated from four lightly seared slices of meltingly tender tuna by a row of grape tomatoes topped with microgreens and minced leeks. A “ginger syrup/jalape emulsion” didn’t register, but the delicately delicious combo succeeded without it.

A puff of cr fra and a plume of tarragon primp and perfume a velvety corn chowder dotted with potatoes, snippets of chives, and salty bacon specks. Are you a two appetizer type? The chowder would partner perfectly with a panzanella assemblage of double smoked salmon, brown bread croutons, grape tomatoes, cucumber, celery, red onion, capers, and parsley in a pungent red wine mustard vinaigrette.

Executive chefs Tony Dee and Justin Albertson, under the guidance of Barton’s longtime head toque Ted Mendez, put on a striking show without any props. A red snapper entr is as simply satisfying as food gets. The seared, modestly portioned fish tasted clean and light upon flawlessly cooked cubes of eggplant, fennel, zucchini, and yellow squash; all the components cohered with a sublime lemon butter sauce. Grilled skirt steak burst with juicy flavor alongside corn, red beans, and a large roasted poblano pepper. Confit of duck leg was apparently culled from a hungry bird, but it was tasty enough atop green lentils flecked with slices of homemade garlic sausage and fully drenched in melted duck carrot onion flavor though it was awfully close to the border of oversaltiness.

Prelude plugs in at dessert time, perhaps because Barton’s P. T. Barnum instinct dictates that show stopping numbers come last. Take the triple chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream/truffle filling, the whole coated in chocolate ganache and topped with a proverbial cherry. Or witness a chocolate chip cookie bar capped with mini marshmallows, caramel brownie bits, and glazed pecans, with a cr fra ice cream pop on the side. Then there’s my favorite: a generous scoop of grape jelly gelato (terrifically true in taste to the real deal) flanked by two pyramids of peanut butter mousse one with a pink macadamia praline glaze, the other bathed in chocolate ganache. Put ’em together onto one spoonful and it’s like the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich reimagined by a French Eskimo.

A quintet of custards, presented like vibrantly colored votive candles on a convex candelabra, pleased via a wide range of flavors, from sweet coconut mango to subtle pistachio to sultry smooth coffee. Still, it seemed a bit subdued compared to the other, more theatrical desserts.

Service is personable, professional, and swift important if you are eating before a show. curtain; for 7:30 performances, patrons seated after 5:30 will not make curtain” and “Diners arriving more than ten minutes after their reservation will not be guaranteed seating.” Most patrons prepay for their prix fixe dinner, a smart way to get from dining room seat to theater seat quickly.

Next stage for Mr. Weiss: The Villa by Barton G. in Casa Casuarina. Opening night is slated for sometime next month, even as applause for Prelude’s first act still rings.
